New online experience for payment app Tikkie.

Tikkie. The saviour of bill-splitting everywhere. It is a Dutch app from ABN AMRO that is free-to-use for iPhone and Android which allows users to conveniently send payment requests using WhatsApp or text message.

In the two years since its initial release in 2016 its customer base has risen to over 4 million users. Although it is an ABN AMRO initiative, clients of all Dutch banks can use Tikkie totally free of charge.

We were asked to create an identity and digital experience for Tikkie to mark the launch of their b2b services for small and large businesses in The Netherlands.

We saw it as a project with enormous potential and were delighted to be involved. Our main challenge was how to help evolve an already established and easily recognised brand as they enter the business to business market.

Since Tikkie is easy to use, it was important to us to ensure the website was simple but fun.

Therefore, we decided to keep the design of the animations simple to reflect the brand style and pulled everything together with complimentary page and interaction design.

With this in mind we reviewed Tikkie’s visual identity that has its roots in the companies young history. We used the existing brand and logo system, which is Tikkie’s signature style, to further define a boarder colour palette and developed a series of playful animations in those new colours.

This work, done with and for our friends, aspires to leave Tikkie well-prepared to meet the opportunities of the future, while still remaining connected to their remarkable past.
